We were raised in Arkansas by women, wolves and cassettes. We formed in 2000 in a cold basement in Olympia, Washington. Our last lp ’Standing in the way of Control’ was recorded in Seattle with help from Guy Picciotto + Ryan Hadlock. We have two other lps, one ep and a few 7"s and 12"s under our belt. We have also been remixed by Arthur Baker, MSTRKRFT, Playgroup, Tiga, Tronik Youth, Headman, Rory Phillips and Soulwax. We have toured with No Bra, Panther, Pre, Les Georges Leningrad, Chromatics, CSS, Le Tigre and Cyndi Lauper. We have interviewed Yoko Ono and recorded a Peel Session (R.i.p. John Peel). We are feminists, artists, disc jockeys and writers. We have collectively spent 80% of our lives in airplanes (just to sweat on you). We love flowers and we believe firmly in raw power. We all currently reside in Portland, Oregon. We believe in the power of Divine. We believe the best thing Elvis ever did was buy Bessie Smith a washing machine and the best thing Henry Rollins ever did (besides the ’Damaged’ lp) was buy Roky Erickson a set of teeth. We are currently busy working on our new lp and we have a live record/dvd coming out soon called ’Live in Liverpool’.
Pete Cafarella (keyboard, vocals) and Nate Smith (drums), both former members of El Guapo, formed Shy Child just after the two moved to New York City. Cafarella had also previously worked with composer Anthony Braxton, while Smith had played drums with Touchdown (Troubleman Records). The duo's first record, Please Consider Our Time, was given proper release by Montreal's Grenadine Records in 2002, with the Humanity EP following in late 2003. After a brief tour of Japan in early 2004, Shy Child recorded One With the Sun with producer Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, Calla), which was released on Say Hey Records in October 2004.

Duchess Says was created in late 2003 by four influent members of the Church of Budgerigars who decided to collaborate together in a common musical project. Their goal was to insure a faithful representation of the message of the Duchess (or spiritual budgie) through a precise artistic dialog. Composed of A-Claude (vox, keytar, guit, programmations), Ismael (keyboard, guitar, programmations), Phil (guitar, bass, feedbacks) and Simon Says (lo-fi beats, drums and doubtful noises). Duchess Says is serving us a repertory of "moog rock" songs strong in images and enormoustly intense live performances!Their musical influences range from no wave, new wave, punk, to cinema and visual arts. If you pay attention, you could see them perform in the most unusual places such as golf courses, shop windows, vacant building sites etc.. Duchess Says has the mandate to decontextualise the rock and to promote simultaneously their Church on the way.
