Blue October's seventh full-length studio album, Any Man in America, is a new beginning.

An unexpected and unsettling personal shift sparked the music that would become Any Man in America. Singer Justin Furstenfeld found himself mired in the end of a marriage and a tenuous custody battle that consumed him to the breaking point. Instead of falling further, he turned to the studio and began documenting moments in his life in 2008 as the band was working on their last offering, Approaching Normal. The result is thirteen new songs that tell a cathartic tale of heartbreak and healing through unbridled lyrical honesty, anthemic modern rock hooks, and melodic soundscapes.

"It's always felt like things just fall in place for us," says guitarist Tom Conrad. "I think it's a testament to how we approach things and the fact that we were friends long before we were band mates. We all have different perspectives musically, but there's a collective mindset that makes it all work." That collective mindset is what has put Empires in the position that they are in today. They are currently one of eight bands that are currently being considered for the cover of the August issue of Rolling Stone magazine after being handpicked to participate in the first 'Choose the Cover' campaign. Should they win the band will become the first unsigned artist to be on the cover of this magazine and will secure a record deal with Atlantic Records. Their most recent release, Bang¸ marks the second effort that the band has put forth that they themselves recorded and released as a free download. To date, Bang has had over 70K+ downloads. Recently, Empires has been named one of the top 100 acts to perform at SXSW 2011 by AOL Spinner.
Empires has gone on the road supporting a vast range of artists including Biffy Clyro, We Are Scientists, The Ting Tings, Gavin Rossdale, Deerhunter, The Whigs , Steel Train, As Tall As Lions, Motion City Soundtrack, The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Paper Route, The Academy Is, Murder By Death, and The Dear Hunter.
