The Bongos, legendary proto-alternative rockers and CMJ favorites who instigated the Hoboken, NJ pop scene, have performed together only rarely since the 1980s. During that decade they toured incessantly and became darlings of college radio and the fledgling MTV. Fronted by Richard Barone, the group's classic debut album, "Drums Along The Hudson," was recently released as a special edition with bonus tracks produced by Moby, on Cooking Vinyl Records. This special performance for CMJ 09 will feature all four original members (Barone, James Mastro, Rob Norris, and Frank Giannini) performing signature tunes such as "Numbers With Wings," "The Bulrushes," "Mambo Sun" and others in their first NYC show in 12 years.
