Poster Children Bring Their First New Album in 14 Years to Rough Trade NYC Tonight

July 17, 2018

Rick Valentin (vocals and guitar) and Rose Marshback (bass and vocals) met more than 30 years ago while attending University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and immediately began making music together in several different bands. But the one that stuck was the energetic pop-punk group Poster Children. The four-piece—the married couple Valentin and Marshback, eventually joined by Valentin’s brother Jim Valentin (guitar) and Matt Friscia (drums)—put out eight well-received studio albums between 1989 and 2004. But Poster Children (above, the video for “Grand Bargain!”) got back together in 2016 and put out their first new long-player in 14 years, the timely, politically charged Grand Bargain! (stream it below), this past May. Be there when they kick off a short East Coast run tonight at Rough Trade NYC.
